I would like to correspond with anyone who was with the original group who left for VietNam from Camp Pendelton in 1965

I was in the Radio Plt. Comm Co. 7th Comm Bn in 1965 when we were shipped to Vietnam in 1965 however we left from 29 Palms and went to Longbeach Calif. to board the USS Okanogan. If this is the same unit please e-mail me as I would like to talk to you.

Was with you in Chu lai, went over on the Okannogan, landed on the beach, then moved to the barracks on the hill next to Divison.
I have contact with John VanScickler, and Jed Shumway. Have been looking for Wayne Beckwith and Phillip Neal, no luck yet.
I was from Iowa (Lost Nation) and was in the first barracks right side as tou looked toward the shower.

Was in Radio Plt. Dec 64-Mar65 Camp Horno. Mar 65 boarded .USS Hugh Gaffey for Okinawa via Hawaii. Camp Hansen for a few weeks, then down the pond on an LST to Taiwan to hump up a mountain or 2 before landing at ReD Beach DaNang 1965 with 9thMEB. Stayed 7thComm till Nov 65 then we became 5thComm (China Beach - Hoa Long). Feb 66 or therabouts did Ops Double Eagle I and II. Left RVN July 66, picked up Sgt stripes and was shipped off to 2ndMarDiv (Lejune) final RFAD Mar 67.
Remember guys from Horno : Cpl Stoney Carlson, Larry and Gary Goodwin, Max G. Clough (Cluff), Willie McCullum, Reggie Laudermilk, Sgt. Watson (TSC 15 Vans) McHale from New York, McCarthy (6 for 5 loan shark LOL), Jerry Ball (Surfer), Frank G.L. Baldwin, Lt. Singleton, Cpl Laird (Office Clerk). Mike Foster, Cpl. Shultz and Cpl. Larson (armorer)
In Nam remember Goodwin Brothers, Bob Yount, Steve "Eliot" Neff, thingy Keene, Treese (Karate dude), Mike Bradly (Minnesota). My memory is getting bad..!!
Currently retired and living in Baguio City Philippines. 2 kids in College (BSN Nursing) to join Navy as Nurse Corps Officers in 08.

Hello I left from Horno in 1965 and spent most of my time at china beach building and bunker duty before moving to the comm center by the runway. |
